Bike Ride This Saturday 4/26/14 Will Feature Short Line Trail and Finish At Spring Arts Festival With
Food Trucks - Artstravaganza
We hear it all the time "What is the route of the Short Line Trail? I just can't figure out how this trail will connect together?"
This Saturday, expert cyclists, Jack McCullough and Charlie Murphy, will lead a bike ride from Western School of Technology and Environmental Science at 100 Kenwood Avenue to the Artstravaganza Arts Festival near the Mews on the Mellor at Peace of Pizza.
Artstravaganza will feature local artists, music and a gathering of food trucks. This bike ride which begins at 11 a.m. will showcase the finished and unfinished portions of the Short Line Trail and will end at the festival.
Cyclist should gather at Western School of Tech, 100 Kenwood Ave. at 11 a.m. in the rear parking lot of school behind the gym. This ride is perfect for families and those who are just returning to cycling. No one will be left behind. Trail surface will vary from asphalt to gravel trail.
One of the highlights of the bike ride will be the newly created mural by Edward Williams at the end of the Short Line Trail at Shady Nook Ave. The mural was sponsored by Wes Peters, Wes Peters Group, Keller Williams Realty

Kit Valentine (left) and Larry Hushour of Mt. Airy discuss the clean up activities on the Short Line Trail on
Saturday, April 5, 2014.

Over 40 volunteers showed up on Saturday, April 5 to clean up the Mellor Ave portion of the Short Line Railroad. This clean up was held to honor Kit Valentine who has been working on this portion and needed some help after having some medical issues. Special thanks to Cockey's Enterprises for donating the dumpster that day and to George Brookhart of Maryland Residential Realty for picking up the cost of the pizza.
The Catonsville Women's Giving Circle, Catonsville High School National Honor Society, Lambda Chi Alpha from UMBC and community volunteers pitched in to make the day a success.
