New Trail along Short Line
Tim Hayman (above on right) of Boy Scout Troop 327 in Arbutus recently completed a new series of trail behind the Western School of Technology and Environmental Sciences as part of his Eagle Scout project.  Tim has created a maze of woodland footpaths and boardwalks that meander through the woods. The trail can be accessed near the Paradise and Prospect Avenue entrance or off of Kenwood Avenue.

Thanks to members of UMBC's Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity for painting the guard rails along Shady Nook Rd. on September 12, 2012.  Special thanks to George Brookhart of Maryland Residential Realty for sponsoring this event by funding the paint, brushes and pizza.

Dear Trail Supporter,

CRTT had an incredible summer!  Several of our board members wrote grants and secured close to $150,000 in funding for the Short Line Trail Development.  This "restricted" money will go to specific project like the design of a trail connector near Bloomsbury Ave., connection to other trails and the resurfacing of the trail east of Maiden Choice Lane.

Due to lack of funds, CRTT had to turn away several volunteer groups because we don't have the "unrestricted" money (we have $70 in our mtce. account as of 9/1/12) for paint, chippers, dumpsters and other supplies.  Maryland Residential Realty pitched in and paid the expenses of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity volunteer day last Wednesday.  If your business would like to sponsor a clean up, let us know!

CRTT finds itself in a difficult  position.  We have unlimited volunteers wanting to work, but we don't have the money to get supplies and equipment.  This is where you can make a big difference.  Become a member of CRTT and support our fall clean up days by making a financial contribution.  Enroll on-line or download our brochure to mail your donation.  Don't forget to check out our membership incentives.

Hundreds of people visited the Catonsville Rails To Trails Booth at the Catonsville Arts Festival on Sunday, September 9, 2012.  We ran out of brochures and maps but we promised to contact everyone with this edition of the CRTT newsletter.   Our annual meeting is another great place to learn about CRTT's successes.  It will be held on September 27, 2012 at the Christian Temple at 7:30 p.m.

Two fall bike rides have been scheduled for September and October. One ride is at a moderate pace with some hills and another slower paced ride is scheduled for families, seniors and those worried about keeping-up. See more below.

Baltimore County will be completing sidewalk improvements on Maiden Choice Lane at Garden Ridge beginning Monday, September  17, 2012.  This project will also include yellow stripes marking the crosswalk on the road.

Your financial support is critical as we move forward.
