CRTT will host a bike ride to Fells Point this Saturday

Dear Trail Supporter,

After two rather "soggy" bike rides in the Spring, the weather looks perfect for an early morning bike ride to Fells Point. The ride will be held this Saturday morning, June 9th at 8 a.m. at Atwater Bakery, 815 Frederick Road. Riders will depart promptly at 8:30 a.m. The ride is free but donations and memberships are always appreciated. For the exact route, see the cue sheet

Looking for a summer project for your kids?  Get them interested in decorating their bikes for the Annual Bike Decorating Contest on July 4th.  The parade theme is Remembering the War of 1812.  All the decorated bikes gather for the 3 p.m. parade and ride as a group in the parade.

CRTT needs your support on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 for the Edmondson Ave. bike lane striping and signage input meeting at 7 p.m. at the Christian Temple, 5820 Edmondson Avenue.  When complete, the bike lane will run from the #9 Trolley Trail to the Gwynn's Falls Trail.  We need a good crowd of cyclist (and your opinions) at this meeting so please attend.

Many thanks to Alvera Winkler of TreeSavers Catonsville for coordinating a "Free the Trees" ivy removal project on the #8 Streetcar Path.  Ivy is killing tens of thousands of trees in our area.  We are working to preserve as many trees as possible along the trails.  More about this will be featured in the next newsletter.

We will have a progress up-date on trails in the next newsletter but it looks like will can put a CR6 surface on the west side of Maiden Choice Lane this summer. We continue to make amazing progress on bike lanes and trails in Catonsville but we want to do more.  Please consider becoming a member and supporting our hard work.

Edmondson Ave Bike Lane Meeting at Christian Temple on June 13,2012

    Bike Lane

The Baltimore County Department of Planning has been awarded a Maryland Bikeways Grant to install bike lane striping and bike route signs along Edmondson Avenue in Catonsville. Together with the existing striping and signage west of Dutton Avenue, the new improvements will provide a continuous bike route from the No. 9 Trolley Trail to the Gwynns Falls Trail.

A citizen input meeting on the proposal will be held:

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 7 p.m.
Fellowship Hall, Christian Temple Church
5820 Edmondson Avenue
Catonsville MD 21228

If you have any questions, or would like more information, please contact Kathy Schlabach at kschlabach@baltimorecountymd.gov or 410-887-3521.

Hope to see you on the next bike ride.  Thanks so much for your past support and for helping us to build the Catonsville trail system.  We are proud to lead this volunteer effort to promote bike and pedestrian-friendly initiatives.  With your financial support we can make real progress in 2012!
Sincerely,
