Family Discipleship Challenge #8

Invest in Your Family

Familyimage
Each of us has 168 hours in our week. We invest time in many things....work, sports, computers, television, smart phones, shopping.... How much time do we invest in our families?

St. Paul reminds us that we will reap what we sow.   Every hour invested in outside activities, no matter how important they seem, is an hour deducted from our investment in family. Our relationships need nurturing especially those with our spouse and children. Take a look at how you invest your time. Make sure your family     investment is a priority. The return will be worth it!

Remember the Monthly Challenge:

#1: Make time for supper.

#2: Serve others.

#3: Practice what you preach.

#4: Make your home a Catholic home.

#5: Share your story of faith.

#6: Observe the Sabbath.

#7: Protect your castle.

Do you know that ...

The Church is a Home for the Wounded Heart?

Upon greeting the Holy Family in the Temple, Simeon declared that the child Jesus would be "a sign that will be contradicted." (Luke 2:34, NAB)

Indeed, the Gospels tell us that Jesus' "hard sayings" offended many of His followers. Some of Jesus's hardest sayings deal with marriage, sexual desire, and the family.

It is no surprise that these "hard sayings" are thought to be out of step with our current culture. But the Church calls each of us to the fullness of truth and encourages us to seek the mercy of God as we grow in our capacity to live it out. Pope Francis calls the Church a "field hospital after battle" where we encounter Christ, the Divine Physician. Since any encounter with our Divine Physician brings healing, we are called to bring the wounded to an encounter with Him.

That is because Love is Our Mission.
