Join the Virtual March for Marriage

This Saturday, April 25, in Washington, D.C. is the
3rd Annual March for Marriage which is being sponsored by several organizations, including the  United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). This march takes places just three days before the Supreme Court hears oral arguments in a case that could determine the legal definition of marriage for years to come.

The March for Marriage is an opportunity to stand for the good of marriage in our nation, to pray for our Supreme Court justices, and to demonstrate our commitment to the well-being of children.

For those who cannot travel to Washington to march, you can still participate in a Virtual March at www.marriagemarch.org/virtualmarch

Urge Florida House to Address Access to

Health Care

The Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops is asking for your help to Take Action in the fight for health care in Florida.  The bishops want  you to immediately contact your member of the Florida House of Representatives to ask  your representative to expand health coverage to low-income Floridians.

BACKGROUND: The right to accessible health care stems from the sanctity of human life and the dignity that belongs to all human persons who are made in the image and likeness of God. As a community, we have a responsibility to ensure that our vulnerable members have access to care.

Persons with incomes above 133% of the federal poverty level (FPL), up to 400% FPL, are eligible for federal subsidies to purchase health insurance. Ironically, those with incomes below 133% FPL receive no assistance with health insurance premiums. Over 70% of these are Florida's "working poor".

The Senate has developed a proposal to extend health coverage to low-income Floridians and has included an appropriation in its proposed budget. However, the House has offered no plan and its budget lacks appropriations for expansion of coverage or supplemental funding for uncompensated care.

TAKE ACTION: Please immediately contact your member of the Florida House of Representatives to urge a solution to Florida's health care crisis.
