Celebrate Successful Year

The KDS DAR School's Band and Choir programs have had an outstanding 2015-2016 school year. Each program has received numerous accolades, both for groups and for individuals. The school year started with the marching band doing its halftime show entitled "Back to the Future." The marching band was awarded the highest ratings possible at multiple contests and even finished second out of 22 bands at their first contest in Phenix City, Alabama.

  KDS Holds Kindergarten and
Pre-K Registration

Kindergarten and Pre-K teachers recently spent the day with students and parents of 4 and 5 year olds who will be their students this fall for the 2016-2017 school year. There were forms to fill out, teachers to talk to and meet, and several fun activities for the youngsters. Seventy children signed up for kindergarten and 56 signed up for Pre-K class. There is so much interest in the Pre-K program, an additional class has been added for the coming school year.  Of course there will be several others who will sign up as the time counts down to August and the beginning of the new school year.

If you have a "Did You Know?" article about KDS School, the Grant community, or the state of Alabama that you would like to share with readers of our monthly newsletter, submit it  to Heather Green at [email protected].  If you have pictures in a digital format that relate to the article, submit them along with the article.  Many of our readers are new to the area and do not know the wonderful, rich history of KDS School and the Town of Grant.  I am sure they will be enlightened with something that you know and take for granted that everyone else knows too.
