  Generosity Makes Christmas Memorable
Everyone at KDS would like to express appreciation to the generous donors who helped make Christmas merry for some special boys and girls and their families. More than 70 KDS students were sponsored, and nearly $10,000 was given by 110 donors through the 2015 "Snowflake" Holiday Giving Campaign, ensuring that families in need would have reason to celebrate on Christmas morning. What a wonderful way to rejoice in the spirit of the holiday season!

Assistant High School Guidance Counselor Anthony Barnes was celebrating a co-worker's birthday when he choked on a piece of cake.
KDS Junior Brooklyn Rogers was in the library for study hall when she heard someone call for help.  "I looked up and saw Mr. Barnes bent over the sink.  It was clear he was choking," said Brooklyn.
  Christmas Day 2015 Floods

Christmas always brings with it much joy and excitement for students at KDS and their families, but Christmas Day of 2015 will always be remembered for historic flooding on Gunter Mountain.
More than 7 inches of rain fell in Marshall County in less than 24 hours, and more than 12 inches accumulated between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.  The heavy rains overwhelmed ditches and storm drains, causing flood waters to cover roadways and enter buildings and homes.
KDS Students Share the Holiday Spirit
with Others

The holidays are always a joyous time as we celebrate the birth of Christ.  At KDS, our students, faculty, staff and friends helped spread the holiday spirit by serving others and enjoying the wonder of the season together. Here are just two of the many events the students took part in.

If you have a "Did You Know?" article about KDS School, the Grant community, or the state of Alabama that you would like to share with readers of our monthly newsletter, submit it  to Heather Green at [email protected].  If you have pictures in a digital format that relate to the article, submit them along with the article.  Many of our readers are new to the area and do not know the wonderful, rich history of KDS School and the Town of Grant.  I am sure they will be enlightened with something that you know and take for granted that everyone else knows too.
