Snowflake Holiday Giving Campaign
Snow is in the forecast once again for the Gunter Mountain community thanks to the friends and supporters of the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School. As the holidays approach and 2014 winds to a close, we ask that you remember KDS in your year-end giving so that we may provide a Christmas to remember for Gunter Mountain families in need.

Saluting U.S. Military Veterans at KDS
Since the birth of our Nation, American patriots have stepped forward to serve our country and defend our way of life. With honor and distinction, generations of servicemen and women have taken up arms to win our independence, preserve our Union, and secure our freedom. On Veterans Day, we salute the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen who have rendered the highest service any American can offer and we are reminded of our solemn obligation: to serve our veterans as well as they have served us.

KDS Elementary Celebrates Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon week is celebrated each year at schools and communities across the United States. It began as a memorial week to honor Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena in 1985. It has grown into a movement to encourage and educate children about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle that does not include the use of illegal drugs. KDS Elementary students celebrated Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 27th through the 31st with educational and fun activities.
