KDS Hosts Special Olympics
Approximately 130 extraordinary athletes from all across the county came together on the track at KDS on April 11th to participate in and celebrate the 2014 Marshall County Special Olympics. This year's theme was "Super Heroes - All Athletes are Super!" The day started with an Olympic style torch run held by the Marshall County Law Enforcement Association, followed by a parade of the athletes.

KDS Senior Receives Student - Athlete Award
KDS Senior Ethan Wooten, along with 47 other exceptional high school student athletes, was honored as a Bryant-Jordan Student-Athlete Achievement Award Regional Winner. Approximately $1 million in scholarships are awarded annually in the nationally-acclaimed program named for legendary football coaches Paul "Bear" Bryant and Ralph "Shug" Jordan. The program, in its 29th year, began in 1986 as a project of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

KDS Alum Shares Her Story at Tennessee DAR State Conference
Dr. Josephine Anderson McCamish (KDS Class of 1962) was invited to share her story with Tennessee DAR and guests during its 109th State Conference in Franklin, April 3-6, 2014. Dr. McCamish spoke about her personal experience as a KDS student and about her family's involvement in the founding of the school during the early 1920s. In her remarks, Josie shared the following: "Caring for individual students has been a part of the fabric of the school from the beginning. I want to tell you how that can happen for a lifetime and from a distance."
