KDS Marching Patriots Excel at Outback Bowl
After more than ten months of planning, fundraising and practice, practice and more practice, 39 members of the KDS Marching Patriot Band, along with 31 parents and other family members, boarded chartered buses on December 28, 2013, bound for Tampa, Florida, and the Outback Bowl. The culmination of the trip was the Marching Patriots' participation in a massed band in the halftime show of the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day.

Middle School Science Fair
One hundred sixty-seven seventh and eighth grade science students participated in the recent science fair held in the Doris Pike White Gymnasium. The students had just over three months to choose and complete a project in the areas of animal science, plant science, social/behavioral science, medicine/health, or physical science. The project components of essay, display and logbook were graded as part of both the students' science and English grades.
