Preparations for the new school year began soon after the last bus pulled away from school on May 24th. Custodians stripped and waxed floors, teachers went to workshops to keep current, counselors and principals were busy planning schedules, and maintenance crews worked on landscaping and indoor renovations that could only be done while no students were on campus. Students were also busy preparing for the 2013-2014 school year with activities such as band camp, cheer camp, football practice, just to name a few.

KDS Science Labs Set for Update
The current KDS High School Science Lab is housed in the Seimes-Thomas Building. The science lab was a part of the original construction and is in dire need of improvements. With the addition of Advanced Placement (AP) courses in chemistry, biology, and physics, one science lab is no longer sufficient to meet the needs of the students.

If you have a "Did You Know?" article about KDS School, the Grant community, or the state of Alabama that you would like to share with readers of our monthly newsletter, submit it to Heather Green at hgreen@nehp.net. If you have pictures in a digital format that relate to the article, submit them along with the article. Many of our readers are new to the area and do not know the wonderful, rich history of KDS School and the Town of Grant. I am sure they will be enlightened with something that you know and take for granted that everyone else knows too. |
