On Monday, the Chicago Transit Authority Board will hold its annual public hearing regarding their 2016 budget. The
Crosstown Bus Coalition has spent the summer and fall making the case for the restoration of the #11 Bus between Fullerton and the Western Brown Line and the need for a bus along 31st Street on the south side. This has been a continuation of the advocacy we have been doing since the route was discontinued in 2012. Now, we will join together one final time this year to tell the CTA why our bus service is so important.
The public hearing will be held at
CTA headquarters, 567 W. Lake Street on Monday, November 16th at 6pm. I urge all of you that care about the restoration of this vital service to come to the meeting and show your support for the #11. If you cannot make the meeting, please
send an email to the CTA explaining why the bus is important to you. There will be a free bus leaving from the senior center at 4040 N. Oakley at 4:45pm on Monday. Space is limited. To reserve a seat on the bus, please contact Dara Salk, in my office, at 773-868-4747 or
dara@chicago47.org.
2015-2016 Block Audits
Each year, every ward is allocated $1.32 million in aldermanic menu funds to pay for infrastructure improvements. The 47th Ward's aldermanic menu dollars have been spent for this year and a full report on last year's process and results is available on our
website. It is now time to begin the process for the 2016 Aldermanic Menu Program!
We give everyone the opportunity to complete an audit of their block. This audit is the first step in our menu process and provides our office with information on which improvements are needed in particular areas. The block audit for 2015-2016 is now online and you can participate by
clicking here. If you would like to complete this on paper, please pick up a copy from the office at 4243 N Lincoln. You can use this
note sheet to walk your block and take note before sitting down at your computer to complete the audit. We will be accepting completed audits until Friday, December 4th. The 47th Ward Team will then score the audits, and we will hold our annual vote for menu spending in February of 2016. We expect our 2016 menu requests to be ready for submission to the City in April.
If you have any additional questions about completing a block audit or our menu process, please contact my office.
Have a great weekend!
