Dear Neighbor,
In advance of the election on Tuesday, November 6th,
I want to let you all know there are new precinct boundaries and changes in associated polling locations for the 47th Ward. A map of the new precincts and a list of polling places can be found on our
website. Please note the aldermanic offices may switch to the new ward maps for responding to city service shortly (we will announce when this occurs). The new 47th Ward map can be viewed
here.
Finding Your Polling Place and Sample BallotsWith the new ward maps and the reduction of precincts, some polling locations have changed. If you did not receive a notice of your polling place in the mail, you can enter your address on the Chicago Board of Elections
website. To view a sample ballot for your precinct, please
Early Voting in the 47th WardFrom October 22 to November 2, registered voters may vote early at any of the 51 early voting locations in Chicago (see here). Note a government-issued photo ID (like a driver's license) is required for early voting. There is an early voting location in the 47th Ward: Welles Park Fieldhouse, 2333 W. Sunnyside Avenue, Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 9am to 3pm.
Absentee Voting In the event that you cannot vote on November 6 nor can make the early voting dates, you can vote absentee now. Applications for absentee ballots are available for pickup in my office or you can find the form
online. The application
must be received by November 1 via mail to: Board of Election Commissioners, 69 W. Washington St., Ste. 600, P.O. Box 1179, Chicago IL 60690-1179.
Registering to Vote The usual means of voter registration or change of address are not available within 30 days of any election. However, there is a grace period until November 3 (Saturday) in which to register/change address in person at the address below. Note that
two forms of identification - one of which shows your correct address - must be presented.
