Greetings! | |

Welcome to the second issue of our new email newsletter. Summer is almost here and lots of exciting things are happening at the club!
Our summer membership drive is going strong and 40 new families joined during our open house on April 28th. Our goal is now to get at least 30 more members by the end of May. We will have another open house during our Summer Kick-off party for members on May 20th from 1-5pm. More info to come on that event. Mark your calendars and bring your friends and neighbors.
Sign-ups for summer swim team begin May 9th from 5-7pm. You can also sign up for tennis, diving, and water polo teams at that time. Also, check out our Summer Program Info (in quick links at left) for a complete list of summer activities.
Last but not least, the bubble comes off our south pool on May 11th & reopens on May 16th. The North Pool will open for swimming Saturday, May 12th at Noon. Horray! Summer's almost here so dive into the club this month if you haven't been here lately. |

It's Time For Summer Swim Team! |
Are you looking for a great way to get your kids active in a healthy way this summer? Sign your kids up for summer swim team. There is no better sport to build their strength and endurance and make them safer in the water. Newport Hills has an incredibly active and popular swim team run by a super group of coaches and supported by a fabulous swim team board.
Our coaches are dedicated to providing kids of all ages and swimming abilities the opportunity to have fun, improve their swimming skills and swim competitively in a positive and supportive environment. Kate Schafer and Michael Patterson are stepping up to share the head coach role this year. "I am very excited to be back for my fourth year," says Kate. "It will be a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to seeing how the kids have progressed. The main focus for this summer is to work on improvements and technique work (for all the returning kids)," she added. Read more about all of our coaches at our website.
Our club competes in the Midlakes Swim League's Division I and we compete against several local teams from Mercer Island, Issaquah, and Renton. The team is split into two teams, A & B, and each team has a meet either Tuesday or Thursday night each week from mid-June to mid-July. Practices begin Monday May 21st. Check our website for the complete summer swim team schedule and information on our swim team.

What's New |

Let's Party! Several members met last week to plan our member party coming up on May 20th. We also discussed ideas for other new events this summer. If you would like to help with planning some fun events this summer, please join us at our next meeting on Monday, May 7th from 7pm-8pm at The Mustard Seed. Or contact us at eventscommittee@nhstc.com
Kudos to all the volunteers who helped at Spring Clean-up day on April 21st. The weather was beautful and everyone pitched in mowing, weeding, trimming and picking up trash. Our club looks ready for summer

Special thanks to member Debbie Margolis for her ongoing efforts to distribute informational flyers to new neighbors and local families. Her efforts have truly paid off! If you want to help her hand out flyers in the future, please contact her at deb.margolis@gmail.com.
Boot Camp Anyone? Swim Coach Kate Schafer is planning to start an outdoor boot camp on Saturday mornings in June at the club. She is targeting adult members and also older swimmers. Let her know if you are interested by emailing her at k8lees@aol.com
Correction - Matt Styer was incorrectly listed as Michael Styer in our last newsletter. Matt helped renovate the sauna and it looks brand new! Thanks, Matt!

Summer Membership Drive - Update
|
We are in the middle of our Summer Membership Drive. Please help support our club and encourage your friends and neighbors to join. Tell them the best time to join is by the end of this month! The initiation fee is reduced from $375 to $250, but they must join by May 31st to save $125. Monthly dues are $92 for families, $63 for singles, and $46 for seniors.
The club hosted a very successful open house on April 28th. Forty new family memberships were sold. Club manager, Eric Bartleson, was very pleased and said, "This was the best attended open house we have had since the opening of the new building in 2000." There was a special offer of $175 initiation fee (an additional $75 savings that day only). There was also a drawing for a free initiation fee during the open house. Several club members and board members volunteered their time to help give tours and talk with prospective members.
We will host another open house during our Summer Kick-off party on Sunday, May 20th from 1pm - 5pm. This is a great time to bring your neighbors & friends to the club to enjoy the facility and learn about all the activities we are offering in the summer.
Free one-week guest passes are also available right now. Print or email the coupon at the bottom of this newsletter for your friends who can't make it to the upcoming open house. Encourage them to come to the club to try it out!
