FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MAY 20, 2015
CRUISE TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS FOR HOT SUMMER FUN

Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. The Lake of the Ozarks offers vintage vehicle cruising fun all summer long during Hot Summer Nights.  This "cruise in" series spectacular returns for another season of hot cars, great music, fantastic food and family fun on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip (Business Highway 54) in Lake Ozark.

Hot Summer Nights is a five-part cruising series that takes place on the second Friday of every month from May through September. Hot Summer Nights draws crowds in the thousands and was recently named by Lake Lifestyles magazine as the best annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks. Remaining dates for Hot Summer Nights are June 12, July 10, August 14 and September 11.

"This is the eighth year for Hot Summer Nights and it just keeps getting better," says one of the event's promoters Bob Schwartz. "We've grown considerably since our very first year, when we only had 46 cars. Now, we get anywhere between 600-700 cars and motorcycles cruising Bagnell Dam Strip on any given evening of the event. The progress has been outstanding."

Schwartz believes the success of Hot Summer Nights is due to a combination of factors. "The event has a good mix of nostalgia and classic Americana and combines the good-time vibes of classic car movies like Grease and American Graffiti with family-friendly activities," says Schwartz. "It's really a celebration of small town America, and it's been a great hit."

This free, family-friendly event features all makes and models of classic cars, trucks and motorcycles, which will proudly be displayed along a mile of "The Strip."  According to Schwartz, there also will be giveaways, live entertainment, deejays, fireworks, fun activities for kids, helicopter rides and much more.

The overall theme for this year's Hot Summer Nights series is "Still Cruisin'," but each monthly installment has it's own mini-theme. "Route 66 Rendezvous at the Lake" is the theme for the June 12 event. The Missouri Route 66 Association will set up a Route 66 "village" where visitors can get a real sense of the magic and history of the nation's "Mother Road." On July 10, visitors can get "Lost in the '50s," with special exhibits of 1950s automobiles and the Lake of the Ozarks Community Dance Project performing to jukebox favorites from that era. The theme for August 14 is "Rods N Rock N Roll," where the emphasis will be on tricked out, street legal hot rods. The September 11 event is called "Vettes for Veterans" and will be a patriotic tribute to American veterans featuring the Lake of the Ozarks Corvette Club.
