FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: APRIL 14, 2015
MAGIC DRAGON STREET MEET BRINGS COOL CARS AND
MEAN MACHINES TO THE
LAKE OF THE OZARKS

Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. - The historic Bagnell Dam Strip will be packed with mean machines, classic coupes, hot rods and more during the 27th Annual Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals, May 1-3.

The largest auto show of its kind in Central Missouri, Magic Dragon draws more than 10,000 visitors to take in all the cool cars, trucks and motorcycles that will proudly be displayed throughout the weekend. The entire "Strip" will be closed off to traffic so that the 1,000 registered vehicles can pop their tops and show off what's under their hoods.

This unique car show gets its name from the shape of the Lake of the Ozarks, which, from the air, looks like a big dragon as it winds 90 miles through the Ozark hills. "Several decades ago, the Lake area was nicknamed 'The Land of the Magic Dragon,'" explained Magic Dragon Chairman John Caran. "We really liked the name, so we took it and ran with it." Since the first event in 1989, Magic Dragon has continued to grow in size and popularity, and that's partly because it's the only car show in the Midwest to give away a brand new muscle car to one lucky winner every year for the last nine years.

"It's become such a popular event that we had to cap the number of show cars at one thousand," continued Caran. "We were growing larger than the real estate we have available, so we're now focused on making it better instead of bigger. We've made lots of improvements to the activities and we've made it a more fun and family-friendly event."

The official show hours for the Magic Dragon Street Meet are noon until 5 p.m. on Friday, 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday. Other weekend activities include a poker run on Thursday, a classic car parade on Friday at 5:30 p.m., and on Saturday there will be a kids fun zone where the younger car enthusiasts can "make-n-take" models of their favorite cars. In addition, there will be a 50/50 raffle and a drawing for a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro RS, compliments of Lake Ozark Daybreak Rotary Club. DJs from Cool 102.7 FM will be broadcasting live on location and blasting classic hits throughout the weekend adding to the authentic "cruising" vibe.

Judging takes place Sunday morning from 9-11 a.m. Winners in 27 different competitive classes and the overall grand champion will be announced at 1 p.m. at the main stage located at Lake Ozark Live, 1508 Bagnell Dam Boulevard.
