The 7th Annual Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival will be held the weekend of September 20-22, in picturesque Stephens Lake Park, just 1.5 miles east of downtown Columbia.The largest festival in Columbia, Roots N Blues is an internationally recognized event featuring over 27 musicians and bands from all over the world performing a variety of eclectic roots, blues, country, bluegrass, gospel, folk and soul music on two main stages. Aside from the great live music, festival goers will also enjoy some of Missouri's best barbecue, which will be available for purchase during the fest. Musical Lineup Better than Ever
The 2013 lineup boasts the return of the ever-soulful rhythm and blues legend Mavis Staples, and also features contemporary blues rock giants The Black Crowes, pioneering alt-country troubadour Steve Earle, the venerable John Hiatt, blues legend Johnny Winter, Grammy winning banjo extraordinaire Bela Fleck, Grammy winning pop quintet Blues Traveler and more. "We're especially excited about this year's musical lineup," says Richard King, one of the festival organizers. "We have taken it to the next level and we hope that everyone is as excited about the lineup as we are." Blues in the Schools: An Inspirational Music Education
Roots N Blues N BBQ is a fun, true and unique celebration of music, food and culture for all ages. And one of the things that makes this festival unique and special for the community as a whole is the Blues in the Schools program. Blues in the Schools, a national initiative and an ever-expanding element of the festival, is a music education program provided to Columbia's elementary schools to encourage an appreciation for blues music and its history through mentorship with an artist in residence. Participating students also get a chance to show off what they've learned live on stage when they perform a number of songs for fest-goers.
  
Roots Runnin' Deep: Half-Marathon and 10K

Get ready for the 2013 edition of the Roots N Blues N BBQ Half-Marathon and 10K. This year the race is taking place on Saturday, September 21. Come out and enjoy music along the course and delicious BBQ and beer at the finish line. All race participants will receive a commemorative medal, a collector's t-shirt and a 50-percent discount on festival tickets.
