TRIVIA: Unknown Soldier Day? The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was dedicated in Arlington National Cemetery yesterday in 1921. It is dedicated to American service members who have died without their remains being identified. Trivia buffs: The Sentinels guarding the tomb take 21 steps during their walk by the Tomb. It alludes to the 21-gun salute, which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.
