OPINION: COUNCILOR BATTE,  BILL'S  THREE CENTS!!!
OPINION: Disclaimer: Councilor Joe Batte and his wife have been close friend's for many, many years. I know very few people who have the integrity, honesty and heartfelt care and concern for our community and our country as Joe does.

EOM folks and friends have contacted me with many questions and opinions regarding the recent articles in the newspaper regarding Councilor Batte.  I would remind our community that the newspapers "report" very little factual news, instead opting to "invent and inflame rumors, half truths and biases" which further the objectives of a particular group or "side" of an issue and fuels the fire to feed more articles to sell more newspapers and cow-towel to other masters.

We all have our frustrations that can test the extremes of our patience from time to time and perhaps we may say or do things that don't reflect well on who we are and our reputations.  Mr Batte has apologized to the city staff and the community for the color and intensity of some of his communications.  

The questions that remain as to whether there have been any violations of the city charter should not be adjudicated by public opinion - by folks who have obvious biases based on recent city issues.  There are established procedures in place to review alleged violations of the City Charter and those processes should be allowed to play out to insure all complaints are completely reviewed and recommended corrective actions, if any, are made to the appropriate agencies.   The City Manager, the MIPD and State Officials are looking into all aspects of the allegations and we should allow them to complete their review.

I personally do not feel the allegations rise to the level of Charter violations and I believe those that are pre-judging an investigation are doing a real dis-service to our Paradise.   Be careful of those that "doth protest too much."
