LITTLE KNOWN FACT: two (2) weeks after the so-called end to the Vietnam 
War, the USS Mayaguez, a civilian container ship, was seized
 by the  Khmer Rouge, Cambodia on May 12 and 39 crew members were captured. On May 15, the 1975 last official 
battle of the Vietnam War, US military retook the ship. The Americans killed, are the last names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Link.    This was the o
nly recorded battle with Cambodia of the entire War. 
     15 killed in action  3 missing in action and presumed dead
     23 killed en-route in helicopter failure    50 wounded

My wing took part in the Vietnam evacuation--and the recovery of the USS Maqaquez--very sad time.  Especially sad, was that the crew of the Mayaquez had been released unharmed on a nearby Island which was not known until we retook the ship after much lose of life.  Bill
