Dear Friends,
I am still coming off the 'high' from the High Holy Days. It's a wonderful feeling to celebrate and worship together. One reason that Sukkot follows Yom Kippur so quickly might be that it allows us to carry the ruach uplift from the Yontef straight through to Simchat Torah and beyond. Feelings of spiritual connection are amplified by the pageantry and mystical meanings threaded through the holidays of Sukkot, Simchat Torah and Sh'mini Atzeret.
Tomorrow night, October 8th, we will assemble on the patio in our beautiful and huge sukkah at 6:30 p.m. for services. For those who wish, bring a pot luck dairy dish at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy the sukkah. Following the services we will enjoy pie a la mode! Please bring your favorite fruit pie to share, and we'll provide the ice cream. In addition, I have invited the new Intro to Judaism class to meet with me and to learn the traditions of Sukkot. You are welcome to join in the discussion.
Thursday morning, October 9th, at 10:00 a.m. join us in the sukkah for first day Festival services. Cantor Ken Jaffe, Stacey Morse, Rick Muller and I will conduct services. Bring your lulav and etrog.
Friday night at 6:30 p.m. and Shabbat morning services at 10:00 a.m. will also be in the sukkah, weather permitting.
Note to Religious School families, There is no RS Wednesday night, we hope you will bring your family to the sukkah instead.
Looking ahead;
Wednesday October 15th at 11:00 a.m. I am presenting; "Why is ISIS a threat? for the Rosenberg Center. RSVP to mseigel@templemenorah.org
