STAND UP AND BE COUNTED

Dear Temple Menorah Members and Friends,

As the membership year of 5774 begins to come to a close, we want to thank you for being part of our Temple Menorah family and supporting your community.

In the Torah portion B'midbar that we will read this Saturday, May 24th, we will hear of how Moses was commanded to take a census of the Israelites in the month after the first anniversary of Passover.  This is one of the earliest times that individuals were asked to stand up and be counted - spiritually as well as physically -- as part of the Jewish People.

This may be why, in commemoration of this historic event, Temples all over the world start their membership renewal drives right about now, in this month after Passover.  To do our part to uphold tradition, we have just mailed your Membership Renewal packet to you.  We have done our best to simplify the materials for you.

Please be on the lookout for it in the mail and take this opportunity to stand up and be counted for Temple Menorah.

Special Offer

If you are able to pay your full Membership Pledge amount by July 15, we will credit your Temple account with a 5% rebate for future Temple Menorah events after the High Holy Days.  (Please note that this is not a discount on dues.)

Religious School Tuition and Fees

Another minhag (local tradition) at our Temple is that Religious School fees are reviewed and adjusted every other year.  This is that year but you will note that we were able to keep the needed increases to a little under 8%, rounded down in round numbers.  The Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation fee was not increased.

Financial Assistance

As in years past, financial assistance for Membership Dues is available by application.  If needed, please use the form in your Membership Renewal packet to apply for 5775 by July 15, even if you are receiving assistance in the current 5774 year.  There is a limited budget for assistance and we want to be fair to everyone.  (Requests received after July 15 will be considered on a funds-available basis only.)

Important:  Senior Members do not have to re-apply for financial assistance.  Those currently receiving assistance will receive the same level next year.

Again, thank you for supporting our Temple community.  If you have any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to call me.

B'Shalom,

 Mickey Seigel
