2014 Annual Awards Gala

The Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Awards Gala on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Huntingdon Country Club, 10305 Raystown Road, Huntingdon. The Fairfield Inn reception begins at 5:45 p.m. and dinner will follow at 6:45 p.m. 

 

This year's premier sponsors include: Juniata College, Mutual Benefit Group, Bonney Forge Corporation and A+ Painting, Staining, & Power Washing, LLC. This year's gold sponsors include: FirstEnergy Corporation and ACCO Brands.

is year will again focus on eight members of the Chamber and the community who will be honored in a variety of categories. The awards this year are: Community Service Award sponsored by Diversified Investment Solutions, Inc - Jo Anna Swope, Educator of the year Awards sponsored by Juniata College and the Law Offices of Roberta Binder Heath, Entrepreneurial Success Award sponsored by Kooman and Associates, Inc., Volunteer of the Year sponsored by Cisney & O'Donnell, Customer Service Award sponsored by Comfort Inn Huntingdon, Business of the Year sponsored by John H. Brown Funeral Home, Inc. and the ATHENA award sponsored by ACCO Brands; Bonney Forge Corporation; BottomLine Pros LLC; Bumgardner & Flasher Oil, Inc; FirstEnergy Corporation; Grier School; Huntingdon Dance Academy, LLC; Juniata College; Helen Pyzowski; and Westminster Woods. 

 

The menu for this year's gala includes hors d'oeuvres during the reception and dinner is a choice of a chicken breast stuffed with spinach, cheese and bruschetta, a vegan option, or bourbon salmon all served with rice pilaf, gourmet mixed vegetables, tossed salad and rolls. There will be assorted desserts.

Alternative Christmas Gifts Bazaar

 

On Saturday, December 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., an Alternative Christmas Bazaar will take place in the Fellowship Hall at the Stone Church of Brethren located at 1623 Moore Street, Huntingdon. All proceeds will go to charity. 

Unemployment Compensation Session

 

The Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Huntingdon County CareerLink to host an Unemployment Compensation Session on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Huntingdon Country Club from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 


 

The presenters will be Irene Kugler, Appeals Program Manager for the Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, PA Department of Labor & Industry and Nancy Smithbauer, Workforce Development Representative, PA Department of Labor & Industry. The topics being covered in this session are Benefit Appeals/Levels of Appeal, Due Process Elements, The Referee Hearing, Burden of Proof and Continuances, Subpoenas, and Telephone Hearings. There will also be a Mock Hearing. Lunch will be provided.

QuickBooks Seminar

 

The Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a QuickBooks Seminar on Friday, December 12, 2014 at the DuBois Business College located at 1001 Moore Street, Huntingdon from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The number of seats are limited for this seminar to 20 participants, so please register quickly if you're interested in attending. 

 

Deb Tkach will be instructing this seminar and will cover a basic introduction into accounting followed by showing participants how to work with purchase orders, sales invoices and banking. She will be covering a lot of material in the three hour period. 

 

The fee for this seminar is $15 per member and $20 per non-member. Please register no later than December 9 by calling the Chamber at
