It Is Important to Read the Bible Unless we read what God told the Israelites, we will not truly know what He said. Dr. Holmes did research, asked questions and the Science of Mind Textbook is the result of his findings, nothing is there regarding what to do when the "End of Days" come. Dr. Vetura Papke taught us differently along with Dr. Turner. They taught us HOW to read it and the importance of reading it. The Bible was very important to both of them and it is important to us, too. We are concerned about those who do not open the Bible. They have the Bible as a symbol of Christianity on their Coffee tables or on a Book Shelf, but fail to open it and read it. Jesus said he came to fulfill the law and not to destroy it or the prophets. If we never read the Bible, then we will be ignorant of what Jesus came to fulfill. We know that Religious Scientists dislike reading the Bible because of the teaching of hell fire, but did you know that Jesus did speak of those who are angry with his brother or says "Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire." We can find those words in the Sermon on the Mount, the teachings by Jesus in Matthew. If your Bible is a Red Letter Bible, which gives the words of Jesus in red, then it is much easier to find exactly what Jesus said. He taught in stories, which were parables, because he could then explain what the stories meant and those who could not see and could not hear could understand what Jesus said. The stories are about the kind of lives the people lived . I have a question. What will you do when certain things begin to happen? Do you know how you are to react? What will happen to you if you do not know? We say at least read The New Testament, particularly Matthew, Chapter 24. You will find in the Book of Matthew the birth of Jesus and all about the Angel Gabriel that came to both Mary and Joseph about the birth and when to take the babe to Egypt, because Herod wanted to kill him. When Jesus accepted his mission with His Father, he was first baptized, then taken to a high mountain where he was tempted by the Devil (as the Bible says), but he rejected the temptation that came to him. I think that the Book of Matthew is known mostly for "The Sermon on the Mount and The Lord's Prayer. The Book of Matthew tells us also about Jesus calling Peter, Andrew, and the Tax Collector, Matthew to follow him. I think the most unforgettable message in this book is about Jesus healing the afflicted and the people in his hometown becoming upset because they misunderstood the truth about miracles-just as people of today sometimes misunderstand. The people at that time wanted know from where he got his wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. It is amazing to us that we teach this idea of healing from Jesus, from the Bible, yet so many do not want to read about the man who did all these things. I believe ALL the miracles and healings that Jesus did we can do them today, also, even feeding as many as possible when only a little food is available. Jesus blessed what he had. If we do that before we sit at the table, we too, can feed many. This is what you will find in the Book of Matthew: - The Birth of Jesus
- The Temptation of Jesus
- Peter, Andrew and Matthew, a Tax Collector Called as Disciples
- The Sermon on the Mount
- The Lord's Prayer
- Message that We Are to Serve God Only
- Judge Not Others, So that You Will Not be Judged
- When the Disciples Became Afraid of the Wind and Waves, They Called for Help from Jesus
-
Jesus Heals the Afflicted
- Do you know that the people in his hometown were upset, because of the work he was doing, the healings, and the miracles (just like today). Therefore, he did not do much work there. They wanted to know from where he received his authority.
10.Mission of the Disciples - Since the Disciples follow after Jesus, this is great for our Ministers and Practitioners to know what their mission was.
11.John the Baptist Baptizes Jesus 12.Jesus Speaks in Parables to get his point over 13.Healing on the Sabbath, which the Scribes and Pharisees and the .......... Did not like. 14.Parable of the Sower - This is great for farmers, for people who sow good thoughts
15.Herod Binds John the Baptist, because of what he said about his wife 16.Feeding the Five Thousand - This is a fascinating story. Jesus has such compassion that he does not want the people to leave hungry as they may faint on the way to their homes. He realizes that there are two fish and five loaves of bread that a little boy has. He looks to Heaven, blesses the food, breaks it and gives it to the Disciples to pass out to 5,000 men (not counting the women and children) and when they have eaten all that they wanted, there were 12 baskets of left overs. How many times have you had food left over and made a meal of it and even from the leftovers there was still food left? When I cook, I bless the food as I am cooking, for I am so very thankful to have food to cook.
17.The Blind Leading the Blind 18.Compassion for others and ourselves is a necessary emotion for a spiritual life 19.Mount of Transfiguration - Jesus goes on a high mountain and takes Peter, James, and John with him. While there, Peter, James, and John see Jesus transfigured, filled with light and talking to Moses and Elijah. They were afraid.
20.Jesus Teaches Us that We Are to Become As a Little Child in Order to Enter the Kingdom of Heaven. 21.He Teaches Us to Forgive. 22.Here you will also find The Great Commandment 23.Prophecy of the End - This is the second most important teaching in Matthew, for if you do not read the Bible, then you will not know what you are to do and what you are NOT to do.
24.The Last Supper and what happens there is in Matthew 25.Peter Denies Jesus, which broke his heart, for he was truly Jesus' best friend 26.The Trial of Jesus is found in Matthew also 27.The Final Teaching of Jesus Are the Last Three Verses in Chapter 28: 18, 19, and 20. The Bible is a Guide for us to live by. If we never read it and take only what someone else tells us, then we may miss a very important message from Our Father. He may talk with us when we read and we will never know what He wants to tell us. If you still refuse to read the Bible, may I suggest that you WATCH the New Testament on DVD.
