Canine Guardians for Life:

We Love Our Dogs

April 2013

CGL would like to take a moment to offer our heartfelt condolences to the people of
Boston and the victims of the senseless bombings that occurred there only days ago. Please take a moment to hug your family members,  walk the dog in the park, read to your little ones, enjoy your life. To honor the lives lost to violence, it is important to appreciate the life we have been given. Life is short so live it to the fullest! Our healing thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has lost a loved one or suffered physically or mentally because of violence.

When horrible events such as this occur, there is a wonderful outpouring of love and caring. Humans are not the only ones who express their emotional generosity to others. Dogs, too, recognize sorrow and pain and willingly provide comfort and gentle healing to people around the world. Read how dogs are helping victims of the Boston bombing here. There is a reason dogs hold a special place in our hearts. This is just one.

SOME OF OUR ADOPTABLES

About a year old and 14 pounds of love, Madison is an energetic little girl who would make a great companion for an older child looking for a furry playmate. She loves to play with dogs, toys, and people. Is this little bundle of joy right for your family?

STEVIE

Stevie is 2-3 years old and is blind in his right eye from an early injury. Stevie is very social and sweet, good with dogs, cats, and especially people! He just wants to be part of your family!  At only 8 pounds, this loving little boy would make a great family companion.

Jennes is a gorgeous, energetic mixed breed weighing 35-pounds and is about two-years-old. She's great with other dogs (but not cats), loves to play, and is a very athletic and smart girl who would excel at agility, hiking, etc. A real beauty, Jenness will offer some lucky family a loving companion.

HAPPY ENDINGS!
Shea
Shea is one of our most photogenic dogs, adopted by Kristen Pierce of Maine in 2006.

Baxter
Baxter was adopted by Sally Hand of MA. Here they are together getting ready for a trip to the beach.

Here Baxter gets ready for a skiing trip. No, Baxter, you cannot drive!
Molly

Molly's adopters Jill & Jay Biondi of NH tell us: "Molly is doing great, and we love her more and more everyday!"

Kobee

Kobee was adopted by Amanda McKew of NH. Amanda is CGL's foster coordinator and does a great job with our wonderful dogs! Thanks Amanda!

Bear

Bear was in our last newsletter, but this picture was too perfect not to use. Adopted by the Trogler family in NH, Bear is one lucky pup and is obviously well-loved. This photograph was taken on a recent  hiking trip and we're told that Bear slept a solid two hours afterwards. The kids clearly wore him out!

Pippin, Jake, and Dewey

Pippin (far right), Jake (upper left), and Dewey were all adopted from CGL (at different times) by Terry Rooney and Meg Stewart of MA. What a precious family!
Lui and Lei

Lui (on left) and Lei (which is "Him" and "Her" in Italian) were littermates from Memphis adopted by Lois Vietri and Liz Davoli from NJ in 2006.

Brownie

Brownie was in an abusive situation when Gina Valentino (and her Dad) drove up from MA and took him right home....and the rest is history!  He's been ADORED for ten years!!

They write: "Brownie turned 12 on March 6.  Can you believe I've had this boy for 10 years!!!!  Thanks to you, we are ever so happy.  I love him more and more each day.   He's doing great, some arthritis in the hips but he still loves to walk.
He's such a Cape Cod boy.  We have been going to the beach on the weekends now that the weather is nice."

Max

Max was adopted by the Daley family of NH.

They write: "I thought you might like to see how well Max now gets along with some of his new friends. Tully is next to him and if you look carefully, you can see Simon under the couch! We adore this boy!"

Koby

Koby (left)was adopted by the Trepanier family of Wolfeboro, NH.

They write: "We love our friends and feel so lucky to have them."

Homer

Homer was adopted by Tom and Julie Fergus of Wolfeboro, NH.

They write: "Homer is awesome. We could not be more pleased!  You are doing great work!"

Brody

Brody was adopted by Vikki Harriman of NH.

She writes: "Can't believe it almost been a year!!!! Love him so much. He is starting to think he belongs in bed with me.....Ray's not so thrilled...."
