Tuesday Tucks Me In: The Loyal Bond Between a Soldier and His Service Dog
by Luis Carlos Montalvan
Narrated by Tuesday, a golden retriever service dog, readers ages 4-8 are taken along through a day with Tuesday and author Luis Montalvan. Montalvan is an Army veteran who served tours in Iraq and now struggles with PTSD and other disabilities. Tuesday is always with Luis, supporting him every minute of every day. Pictures and narrative show and tell of the close bond that they have and show how much freedom can be gained from such a bond. This reciprocal loyalty will pull at your heartstrings in a touching story that will appeal to all dog lovers. I also recommend Until Tuesday, the author's memoir telling how Tuesday "rescued" him and became his furry best friend (now in paperback). (Roaring Book Press, $16.99).

The Great Thanksgiving Escape
by Mark Fearing
Join Rhonda and Gavin as they try to escape the kids room and make a run for the backyard during another "boring" Thanksgiving Dinner at Grandma's. But, of course it's not that easy. They have to get past vicious guard dogs in knitted sweatshirts, through the hall of cheek pinching aunts, and worst of all--pass the great wall of butts. This book is great to read to the little ones. A lively story with funny pictures that will be sure to keep your child entertained. Ages 5-8. (Candlewick Press, $15.99) Reviewed by Erika

Nancy Clancy: Secret of the Silver Key Book 4
by Jane O'Connor
In this new book Nancy and her best friend Bree go back in time to solve their latest mystery. In school, Nancy's class is learning about time capsules, but when her family buys her an old desk at a tag sale she finds a silver key in a small drawer. Nancy and Bree have hopes that the key will lead them to finding a treasure. But, unlocking the mystery isn't as easy as they think it will be and the answer they find isn't the one they expect. I recommend this delightful series to young readers who are moving into chapter books, yet not quite ready for longer stories that lack the illustrations young readers still enjoy. Ages 7 to 10.
