I am writing this newsletter a few days after Christmas and Hanukkah. As I write it, I think of two things: about the love and joy that surrounded me during the holidays, and about those who no longer feel the love and joy because the holidays are over.
Sadness is the feeling that comes up for those who were unable to hold onto those feelings that lifted them above the superficial emotions that sometimes are associated with holidays.
Remember that Hanukkah and Christmas are reminders to re-dedicate ourselves to reignite the Light within and without, thus the symbols of the menorah and Christmas lights. It is a time to remember to re-dedicate ourselves to the purpose of humanity...the merging of the Human and the Divine.
Holidays are both recordings of prominent events and symbols to guide us to remember that these purposeful occasions and trials can help us to focus on our purpose here on earth...to serve.
Why do you think that everyone reading this wants to help others? It is an innate characteristic of every human being. But who are you going to serve? Everyone serves something or someone.
A mystic once told me "Everything you see is not real [temporary], everything you don't see is real [eternal]."
It is said in every scripture I read that we first serve God, then we can help others. By aligning ourselves with the God of our understanding and the principles of that faith, we are able to build the character that will give us the foundation to be able to help others, and not be overwhelmed by the sometime oppressing situations that are here on this plane. The character that we build by going within will give us the balance that allows us to not lose ourselves between the peaks and valleys of life.
So as we start our New Year, I am asking you to...and teaching you how to..."Man Up" (despite the phrase, this is not gender based). By "Man Up," I mean to step up. To change not only the external elements, e.g., your weight, your job, your situation, etc., but to achieve everlasting change by fulfilling the purpose of your life...merging your Divine qualities with your human qualities.
This month, my weekly blogs will touch on how to nurture your Divine qualities and bring them to the forefront. You can read the blog posts by connecting with me on Facebook (Michael Hoare on Facebook) or LinkedIn (Michael Hoare on LinkedIn), and clicking on the links provided.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!
Peace, Love and Joy always,
Michael
