So What Is Love?
This month, I will begin with a poem:
"Love rules the court, the camp, the grove
The men below and the saints above
For love is heaven and heaven is Love"
~The Lay of the Last Minstrel,
by Sir Walter Scott
My spiritual path has led me to experience that God is everything. In the poem above, God is Heaven and Heaven is God. God is Love and Love is God. All there is...is Love.
I know for some of you this is a hard concept to grasp, and it might come to you over time and it might not. But if you are reading this newsletter, I believe that you do see God or God's energy in most things in your life.
The times when it is difficult to grasp that God is Love and everything is God are when we experience our painful life situations. As Bill W. from Alcoholics Anonymous has said, "Pain is the touchstone of spiritual growth."
Just as when we have reread a book or something from a book and we get something out of it we didn't the first time, so, as we journey through life, if we keep our hearts open, and don't let life's painful experiences overshadow us, we will continue to expand our consciousness and spiritual development.
Remember this is a journey. It's not a race. You don't want to get to the end too quickly. Life is meant to be fully experienced...the love and the pain, joy and sorrow, the rainy days and the sunny days. It's a basic law. We cannot experience one without the other. But we don't have to experience the peaks and valleys. Our spiritual path/program will help us understand it; our faith will keep us grounded so that we are not knocked down for that long period of time when those painful experiences come into our lives. We experiences them, feel the pain and sorrow, and within our own time are able to understand it better and go though it.
That is the essence of The Ah-Man Spiritual Recovery program.
Thank you for your time. Be sure to visit the Ah-Man Blog this month, where I will discuss other aspects of love. I always enjoy your feedback.
Love/God is all you need.
Namaste,
Michael
