Dear Friends and Family,
June reminds me of so many things: the start of summer, beaches, hikes to mountain lakes to swim in, rides in the car, listening to outdoor music shows; it all seems to start in June.
June is also the month in which Fathers Day falls, so Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers in our lives. Happy Fathers day to all the men in our lives that helped us become the persons we are. All the masculine figures in our lives...fathers, uncles, teachers, big brothers and more...that helped instill the values we have; the integrity, chivalry, our drive to do the right thing, to protect, to accomplish all that we can, those who helped us establish the sense of dignity that we have today.
Some of us have come from homes where our fathers might not have been available to instill or teach those qualities, but there is usually some male figure(s) or a few that came along in our lives and have made an impression that has helped align these type of qualities deep down within. That's not to say that a female could not. Of course they could and do in their own way.
My Dad was sick for several years before he passed on when I was 15 years old. His disease was a deteriorating one that took all of those qualities away from him over its course, but through the quiet time I allowed myself, especially in early recovery and when I was working on myself and my relationship with others, I was able to bring back those buried memories of my Dad; those memories of when he was strong, loving and had all those qualities.
So to all the men who, during the course of my life, have taught me by example the principles of right and wrong, about chivalry, about the drive to succeed and to protect, about dignity and more, I give a prayer of thanks to you and will always hold a place in my heart for you for helping me become and continue to be the man I am today.
Peace & Love,
Michael

Honoring The Masculine in Spirituality
Men are made fun of in many ways. One of them is that we are so set in our ways. We know where we want to go, so we set our sights on it and go. It's just our nature. It is also part of our journey to become more flexible, to be open to and allow for some adjustments. But at the same time, we are not to lose sight of who we are. We are all meant to be the person we are...once we clear the path in our journey. Clearing the path at times is just walking through the mud in the road. Yes, at times we do have to get dirty, and go through things we don't particularly like, but once we do, at the other end we can usually see the lesson behind it. In both men and women there is the masculine and the feminine. Part of our journey is recognizing each of those aspects in ourselves, and then balancing them and embracing them. Each one of us is different, so for each of us those aspects will have a greater or lesser part in our lives. Remembering this when someone else is experiencing/honoring that aspect (masculine/feminine) in their lives more than you like, will help you stay balanced and prevent you from stepping into mud in the road of your journey. Honoring The Masculine in our lives will take on different roles for each of us during our life. In our everyday life on a more basic and primitive level, it usually comes down to the basics: being the provider, the protector and to help procreate. When those of us are drawn to religions, ceremonies and certain ways of practicing our spiritual path, it is our masculine aspect that is drawing us. There is a need/want for structure in each one of us. It simply is a constructed way of honoring the Spirit within and without us. All religious paths, be it pantheism, paganism, monotheistic or polytheism, have helped millions to a higher state of consciousness and hundreds of thousand to become Self Realized Souls. It is the masculine within that craves and needs a structured path on our spiritual journey. Over the next several weeks in the Ah-Man Blog, I will expand on each of these paths and focus on some of the Masculine Spirituality of them. As always, I really enjoy your comments on Facebook and look forward to reading them. Until then, I honor the Masculine Spirit Within You. Namaste, Michael |

UPCOMING SPIRITUAL RECOVERY HALF-DAY RETREATS
Spiritual Recovery is all-inclusive and non-sectarian; available to any man or woman, regardless of age. It happens when someone is reconnected to Spirit, allowing one to begin to see things from a different perspective. There's usually a common thread that brings one to seek Spiritual Recovery. That thread is pain: physical, mental or emotional. On rare occasions, it can be a joyous or spectacular life event that brings one to Spiritual Recovery. But in most cases, it will be life's painful events that we explore.
Let Michael's vast experience guide you in learning how to enrich your journey to Spiritual Recovery during upcoming half-day Spiritual Recovery Retreats.
Whether you're a neophyte beginning a new relationship with your Inner Self or you've already had a Spiritual Awakening/Divine Experience, you'll want to deepen and enhance your experience.
Below is a listing of retreat dates, times and venues. Each session is scheduled for a Saturday from 10am to 2pm. The fee is $25 per person.
