Dear Friends and Family,

Liz and I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Turks and Caicos. It was a birthday gift to myself, and one well enjoyed. I hope you've had a chance to see some of the pictures I shared on Facebook.

I'd also like to wish everyone a Happy Passover and Easter.

These two events are not only key religious occasions for each faith, but they also have a very deep spiritual aspect to them that I'm sure you can relate to, regardless of your faith. It's a time of rebirth...starting over...a new beginning, as well as remembering the past and making the necessary correction in the course of life to live a more whole and fulfilling life. Of course, both of these religious events have a lot more meaning to them, but the opportunity to start over is a big part of them.

Each day, each moment in our lives we are given the opportunity to shift our consciousness, to make a correction in the course we are headed, to see things differently and to start anew. It's a wonderful ability we have and I hope you use it often.

Namaste,

Michael

The Importance of Relationships

Relationships are very important in life. In my book, Returning to WHOLENESS...Discovering Ah-Man, I spoke of the relationships between yourself and God, the relationship you have with yourself, and the one you have with others. I spoke about it in reference to Trust, Acceptance and Forgiveness.

During our journey in life, we will get to experience different levels of Trust, Acceptance and Forgiveness with God, ourselves and others. But how are we able to continue to peel those layers and get to that next level?

There is no magic wand. It comes through what some might call purification.

This purification can come in the form of struggles or pain: physical, emotional or mental. Our journey in life is not supposed to be full of bliss and happiness. It is a world of duality, where we experience happiness and unhappiness. A world where we have to make decisions; and not always decisions that we like to make, but decisions that we need to make.

We have to have balance of both spirituality and material stability as we walk in this world. I'm sure you've noticed yourself at different times of your journey leaning too far to one side. Being too materially minded might look and feel like there is a lack of compassion and acceptance toward the situation or others. One where you feel you have to be right, and try to justify yourself. It seems that you have to justify yourself or you'd be lost. There is a sense that you have lost control if you're not right.

Being "overly spiritual," for lack of a better phrase, might look and feel like you're not taking responsibility for a certain situation. This might look like, well if God/Higher Power wanted me to have a job, and I pray hard enough, it would fall into my lap, or I have faith that God will take care of my financial situation, without you doing your part by living within a budget you can afford. Or being in a relationship that is not working and saying, God will work this out for us, without getting the necessary help for yourself and or you and your partner.

Over the next couple of weeks in the Ah-Man Blog, I will touch on the ways to peel the layers and enhance relationships with God, Yourself and others, touching on Trust, Acceptance and Forgiveness.

Sending Peace and Love,

Michael

Spiritual Recovery is all-inclusive and non-sectarian; available to any man or woman, regardless of age. It happens when someone is reconnected to Spirit, allowing one to begin to see things from a different perspective. There's usually a common thread that brings one to seek Spiritual Recovery. That thread is pain: physical, mental or emotional.   On rare occasions, it can be a joyous or spectacular life event that brings one to Spiritual Recovery. But in most cases, it will be life's painful events that we explore.
