General Synod Highlights

The Rev. Bridget Haefner, of St Paul's UCC in Delano, highlighted the events of General Synod very nicely in the final blog post. Here's what she had to say:

GS2015 ended less than an hour ago and I'm already looking forward to GS2017 in Baltimore, MD. Funny thing is I'm exhausted and also a little cranky. It's time to go home and get back to normal. BUT...the Rev. Dr. Sharon Watkins, General Minister and President of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), reminded us during her sermon tonight that normal isn't working anymore.

Attend camp for an unforgettable ministry and life-changing week! You won't want to miss out on our Lake Ida beach front and water slide, day of mission experiences, vespers, excellent food, and this chance at holy communion with youth (grades 6-12th) of the Minnesota Conference UCC!

Adult leaders attend camp with their youth and serve as the camp staff/counselors for the week. This program is designed to help get your church youth ministry going into high gear!

When: Please select Week II unless your church is signed up for the other week
Where: Pilgrim Point Camps & Retreats, Alexandria, MN (directions)
Who: Youth (individuals and church groups) and their adult leaders
Cost: Youth - $360; Adults - $100 
Forms: All campers must submit a health and medical release form.

Please Return Your Postcard
In May, each church in the Minnesota Conference received a letter along with a return postcard defining the terms of funds that were received when Peace UCC in St. Paul closed its ministry in 2005. Each church was asked to return the postcard, indicating whether they would like their portion to be contributed to the Minnesota Conference's new church start and church renewal effort or receive its share of the Peace UCC gift. The deadline for this information is July 13. If you do not have your postcard you can respond directly to Shari Prestemon or by calling the Minnesota Conference office at (612) 871-0359.
Joys & Concerns
  • Pilgrim Congregational UCC in Williams, MN, will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Sunday, July 12. A celebratory service at 11:45, with Conference Minister Shari Prestemon preaching, will be followed by an anniversary lunch. Music will be provided by the local group Sloughgrass.
Notices

  • The Minnesota Conference UCC office will be closed on Friday, July 3 so that our staff can celebrate the 4th of July holiday.
