General Synod June 26 - 30 in Cleveland
This week, thousands from across the country (and abroad) will gather for General Synod 30 in Cleveland, Ohio - the birthplace of the United Church of Christ. Together, they will discern resolutions of witness, church structure, and function. They will stand up for issues that demand a faithful witness. And they will join together in worship each day to lift up the Stillspeaking God. At General Synod 30, they will explore some of the "Unexpected Places" where we hear God's voice, encounter the Spirit, and find the United Church of Christ lifting up its witness in the world.

Shari Prestemon, Conference Minister, Rick Wagner, Associate Conference Minister, and Steve Boorsma, Associate Conference Minister from the MN Conference office and 18 delegates will be traveling to Cleveland to participate in the General Synod activities.  Those serving as delegates for the MN Conference are:

Reverend Garth Schumacher named as Interim ACM for Faith Formation of Children and Youth

Garth has most recently been serving as Intentional Interim Pastor at Mizpah UCC in Hopkins.  Prior to that he also served as the Intentional Interim Pastor at Congregational UCC in Rochester.  He has a wealth of experience in Interim Ministries, youth ministries, and faith formation.  He also has a deep appreciation and love for Pilgrim Point Camp and is himself an experienced PPC'er.  Garth's unique set of experience and skills, and his genuine, demonstrated commitment to faith formation with children and youth make him an excellent choice to serve with us in this role. Garth will begin his ministry with us on July 6.

Please Retun Your Postcard
In May, each church in the Minnesota Conference received a letter along with a return postcard defining the terms of funds that were received when Peace UCC in St. Paul closed its ministry in 2005.  Each church was asked to return the postcard, indicating whether they would like their portion to be contributed to the Minnesota Conference's new church start and church renewal effort or receive its share of the Peace UCC gift.  The deadline for this information is July 13.  If you do not have your postcard you can respond directly to Shari Prestemon by email or by calling the Minnesota Conference office at 612-871-0359.
