Growing Vegies in Containers
Fresh Food for your Table
There's nothing like picking a tomato & enjoying its fresh flavour.
      The really neat part of that is, that you don't need to have a large garden plot to grow some of your own fresh food.  A pot or planter that is at least 10" deep is all you need to plant some vegetable seedlings, or some seeds.  A tomato plant will need to have a minimum of 12" diameter pot.  Planting radishes, lettuce, spinach, red beets or green beans, which are all easy to grow, can be in a smaller container.  We don't recommend trying to grow sweet corn in a container.
      Just as important as having a container with adequate soil volume, be sure to fill your container with a good potting soil.  You will need to be sure to give your plants adequate water, especially as they get more mature.
A flower & vegetable food to keep the plants nourished and healthy is also a good idea.
