Resources for Entrepreneurs & Small Business Owners
The Business, Science & Industry Department is a department in the Parkway Central Library of the Free Library of Philadelphia system. Over the years we've been able to provide workshops and programs to help hundreds of individuals start their own business. We've been able to do so through our valuable partnerships with other Philadelphia organizations. Each provides their own array of resources to help start and build businesses.
This organization provides free mentors for individuals starting a business. It is a valuable service that we cannot offer as librarians. Although an idea for a business may be unique, the process of starting a business has been perfected by many and SCORE Philadelphia provides experts to help entrepreneurs on their path. In addition to mentors, this organization also provides wonderful workshops on topics for both entrepreneurs and current small business owners.
EntrepreneurWorks
Business planning, marketing, Quickbooks, and credit building are just a few of the topics covered in their workshops. In addition to their series of classes, EntrepreneurWorks helps secure individuals funding as well. They also provide technical assistance and an abundance of networking opportunities.
Wharton Small Business Development Center
It is a division of the Snider Research Center of Wharton Entrepreneurship and University of Pennsylvania. In addition to different types of workshops, throughout the year their three step entrepreneur program is offered. WSBDC also has specialized consulting services for established businesses in areas including marketing and international business assistance.
The librarians at the Business, Science & Industry Department are available to answer your questions in person, on the phone or via email.
