As we pause to reflect during Thanksgiving we at the Narragansett Council are thankful for many things. Perhaps most of all we are thankful for the opportunity to do good in our community and to serve others, as Scouting has done for more than 100 years.
This month Scouts from our Council collected over 115 TONS of food for the RI Community Food Bank and other local partners to help serve the less fortunate in our community. This represents and increase of about 24,000 pounds over last year.

Recently, Cub Scout Kenny McMillan was awarded the National Certificate of Merit, and was honored at the State House by Governor Lincoln Chaffee for performing first aid and caring for his baby brother after his mother was severely injured.
Last month over 140 Scouts spent the weekend at Camp Yawgoog learning about what to do in an emergency while working on the Emergency Preparedness and Search & Rescue Merit Badges.
These are just a few examples of the thousands of "Good Turns" that our Scouts, Volunteer Leaders and parents perform every year. From all of us at the Narragansett Council, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
