Sat. Aug. 16th ~ Garland Street Fair and Block Party, Spokane
The 12th Annual Garland Street Fair and Block Party is this weekend, 10am to 9pm, featuring five blocks of the Garland Business District from Howard Street to Monroe. There will be an assortment of musicians, food vendors, arts activities and involvement from the Garland businesses, not to mention a booth from Pinot's Palette, where you can paint 8x8 mini canvases for $10 each! This year the street fair is featuring family and kid-friendly vendors and activities (face painting, games and kids art and activities) 10am to 6pm and will continue with the Block Party featuring live entertainment and the Runway Renegades Fashion Show until 9pm. Wed. Aug. 20th ~ Soiree on the Edge 2: Sunset Serenade at Arbor Crest, Spokane
If you missed last night's Soiree on the Edge concert, you have another chance to enjoy the wonderful music. The second Soiree on the Edge will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 20th, 7 to 9pm. The Spokane Symphony Orchestra will perform four stellar compositions, including movements from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. Mateusz Wolski is the soloist in Zigeunerweisen by Sarasate. Thurs. Aug. 14th ~ Cooking and Mixology Class: Local and Organic with Two Cooks with Love, Spokane Valley
Supporting the local farmers and creating recipes using the freshest organic ingredients found in the Northwest is what this class is all about. You will quickly recognize the bold and flavorful taste of local organic foods. Scott and Roxane will be teaching you recipes like Tomato Strawberry Bruschetti, Chilled Roasted Beet and Carrot Soup with Parsley Lime Cream, and Zucchini Pasta Marinara. Other recipes will include ingredients such as grass-fed chickens, organic greens, peaches and huckleberries. Dessert will be Cinnamon Bread with Mocha Goat Cheese and Spangle Buckwheat Honey. Dry Fly Distilling will also be there showcasing their spirits using fresh local ingredients, which will be used in making Mojitos, The Derby and other cocktails. This is a hands-on course, so bring your aprons. Samples of all drinks and foods created will be available for your enjoyment. A great way to spend a rainy summer's evening.
