Restaurant proprietors Matt and Elizabeth Johnson invite you to join them for their soft opening this Sunday, May 4th, 6 to 9pm, on the beautiful grounds at the Roosevelt Inn and enjoy half-priced appetizers, wine and beer in the new fine dining restaurant Theodore's. Salsa Cabana available in Coeur d'Alene and Hayden  

 
Inspired by their mother, who used to sell the "best" burritos, along with their family recipe salsa, while living in El Paso, Texas, Miriam and Matt Nevarez have decided to continue the tradition, creating and selling their Salsa Cabana salsa right here in North Idaho.

"My brother and I have always wanted to start a restaurant but decided to market our down-home family salsa," says Miriam. Read more

Fri. May 2nd ~ First Friday Artwalk in Downtown Spokane 

 
The first Friday of each month throughout the year, enjoy an evening full of drawings, paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, photography and more through the diverse locations of downtown. Explore to find live performances from music, dance and theatre, as well as amazing food and excellent shopping at various art galleries, wineries, restaurants and shops. First Friday is not only for adults; the kids will enjoy it, too.

Sun. May 4th ~ Bloomsday ~ Spokane 

 
The 38th Annual Lilac Bloomsday Run is this Sunday, May 4th. The 12-kilometer, 7.46-mile run, is open to adults and children, strollers and wheelchairs, and is a great event for the entire family to participate in. Even if you're not participating, get out there and cheer them on.

Fri. May 2nd ~ Laura Love and Orville Johnson Concert at
Di Luna's in Sandpoint

 
Laura Love and Orville Johnson will be performing this Friday, May 2nd, at Di Luna's Cafe. Together, Laura and Orville present a lively and very fun show that features Laura's originals as well as beloved folk, gospel and country tunes. They are two big voices, one acoustic guitar and one bass, and the two of them easily fill the room with soul and good humor. The concert begins at 7:30pm with doors opening at 5:30pm. Dinner is available before the concert (reservations required). Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.

BREWERS DINNER

Sun. May 4th ~ Hills' Restaurant Brewers Dinner Featuring Deschutes Brewery in Spokane  

 
Celebrate Cinco de Mayo one day early with Hills' Restaurant as they host a brewers dinner featuring Deschutes Brewery. The four-course menu features everything from Shrimp Quesadillas and Chicken Mole Skewers to Carne Asada Steak and Flan! Click here to view the full menu. Doors open at 5pm with dinner starting at 6pm. Price is $49, tax and gratuity included. Call early for reservations as this event will sell out. Deschutes has allowed Hills' to purchase a keg of the previously unreleased 22nd Anniversary Black Butte Porter for this event. They will also be pouring the latest release of Deschutes Mirror Mirror Barley Wine Ale, their first release of this in five years. Don't miss out!

WINE TASTINGS

Fri. May 2nd ~ Barili Cellars Fifth Anniversary Party in Spokane 

 
Barili Cellars is celebrating their fifth anniversary and want you to join in the fun! In conjunction with First Friday, 4 to 9pm, they are having a party and will celebrate with the release of their newest wine, Cinque, which means five in Italian and features five varietals. There will also be live music, meats, appetizers and special treats, a blast-from-the-past art exhibit with pieces from Barili's favorite artists, the launch of the new Barili Wine Club, and ... a new look in the tasting room!

Fri. May 2nd ~ Bad Attitude Release Party at Nodland Cellars
in Spokane Valley  

 
Join Nodland Cellars for their Bad Attitude red wine release party 5:30 to 9pm this Friday where they will be featuring a live band, new art exhibit, finger food and best of all, guests will get the chance to taste the new 2010 Bad Attitude red wine! The wine is big and bold, with new oak and Walla Walla fruit for only $15 a bottle. "Wine-Strong" wrist bands, black with the words Bad Attitude, will be given to everyone who attends the big release party. Bad Attitude T-shirts are available for $25 and are the perfect attire for a Bad Attitude party!.

Head to Pilgrim's Market tomorrow, where they will be celebrating the sun's arrival with some wonderful wines. Scott from Vehrs will be joining them this week as we say hello to May and the spring sunshine! He will be pouring: Long Shadows Julia's Dazzle Pinot Grigio Rose, Decoy Chardonnay, Sawtooth Winery Pinot Gris, and Trentadue Old Patch Red Zinfandel and Petite Syrah. And .. this tasting is free!

COOKING CLASS

Thurs. May 1st ~ Authentic Mexican Cuisine at The Culinary Stone in Coeur d'Alene 

 
Tonight starting at 5:30pm, Chef Angie Murray will create scrumptious Sopes with beef and chicken fillings, authentic Mexican Rice from scratch, and Flan. Be sure to mark your calendars for Saturday, May 3rd, and join Chef Giuliana Palmas-Rogers, originally from Sardegna, as she kicks off her Native Italian Cuisine cooking series, showcasing principle dishes from each region of Italy.
