Spring has arrived! At least for the time being, so enjoy! The 30th Annual Dogwood Festival continues all month long. It's First Friday in Downtown Spokane, so be sure to stop in at participating venues including Grande Ronde and Nodland Cellars. The 3rd Annual Cowboy Ball is tomorrow night at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, and learn to make your Easter Favorites at Gourmet Way's Cooking Class next Wednesday. Be sure to make your reservations for two delicious events taking place next week: Spring Valley Vineyards Wine Dinner at Beverly's in Coeur d'Alene and the Annual Grape and Grain at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston. 2014 WRA Spokane Restaurants of the Year Announced
 Congratulations to Spokane Valley's MAX at Mirabeau for being voted Washington Restaurant Association-Spokane Restaurant of the Year for "Best Fine Dining," formerly the "Full-Service" category. They join the likes of past winners including Masselow's, Clinkerdagger, Anthony's, Wild Sage and Downriver Grill, to name a few. Fri. April 4th ~ 3rd Annual Cowboy Ball at Kootenai County Fairgrounds in Coeur d'Alene
Join in a fun-filled evening to help raise funds for capital improvements to The Kootenai County Fairgrounds and providing educational scholarships for area youth. The 3rd Annual Cowboy Ball features live performances by Kelly Hughes Band, dance lessons (5:15 to 6:30pm), live and silent auction, Best Western Dressed Contest, Mechanical Bull Riding Competition, and food by Texas Roadhouse, with beer and wine available for purchase. For these two days, all profits from dine-in, take-out and gift-shop purchases will come directly to supporting RMHC Spokane's Adopt-A-Room program. Now - Sun. April 27th ~ 30th Annual Dogwood Festival in Lewiston & Clarkston
 Each April, dogwood blossoms in the Lewis Clark Valley form the colorful backdrop for a month full of activities and events. This festival includes numerous activities throughout the month such as art exhibitions, wine and beer tastings, golf tournament, quilt show, car show and fun run. The event culminates the last week of April with the Art Under the Elms, three full days of artisan fair featuring more than 100 craft booths, continuous entertainment and family fun held on the Lewis-Clark State College campus.  Celebrate First Friday at Grande Ronde this Friday. Special guest artist Jami Lord will be at there with her Acrylic on Wood. Tomorrow, April 4th, 5:30 to 9pm, Nodland Cellars will celebrate the release of the new 2010 Avant-garde Carmenere, Walla Walla Valley. The event will be held in the tasting room and you are invited to attend. Drop in the tasting room and try the wine! To add to the evening, there will be live music, live oil painting demonstration, finger foods, wines by the glass and a special taste of the very ancient and rare Carmenere, the darling wine of the Romans and one of the original blending grapes in Bordeaux..

Thurs. April 10th ~ Spring Valley Vineyards Wine Dinner at Beverly's at the Coeur d'Alene Resort
This event features seven courses, six wines and one French winemaker. One of Walla Walla's established greats, Spring Valley Vineyard, has been offering up great, age-able, Top-100 recognized wines for more than a decade. Their latest releases suggest they have really hit their stride, even with challenging years like 2010 and 2011. There will be a white wine served with the first course, but this is a red wine drinker's evening.
