Sat. Jan. 11th ~  Honoring a Hometown Hero in Sandpoint 

 
American-Flag-Image The Sandpoint community is gathering together along the Pedestrian Long Bridge at First Avenue and Cedar Street between 4 and 4:30pm this Saturday to honor Capt. David Lyon. Lyon's family will be returning to Sandpoint from Colorado, where David was buried January 8th at the United States Air Force Academy Cemetery in Colorado Springs, Colo. Residents are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Sat. Jan. 11th ~  Family Chocolate Tasting and Story Time at Chocolate Myracles in Spokane Valley 

 
Chocolate Myracles Explore the origin and history of chocolate with your child 11am to 12:30pm this Saturday! Enjoy six different types and styles of Chocolate Myracles' Single Origin, Fair Trade chocolates from South America and Europe. Guatemalan-style hot chocolate will be served as well. Master Chocolatier Julia will tell adventurous stories about chocolate in the regions in which she spent her childhood, and a short film will be shown. Cheese and crackers will be served at the end of the class. The cost is $30 for one adult and one child, $5 for each additional child and $10 for each additional adult. Preregistration is required. Gourmet Way continues its Cooking with the Masters Series. Next Wednesday, 11am to 2pm, join Gourmet Way's Master Chef Steve Giving in preparing Superbowl Favorites just in time for the big game! This class is pre-register, so call (208) 762-1333. The menu: Seattle Seahawks Pacific Northwest Salmon Candy; New York Jets Pastrami, Sweet Kraut, Caraway Puffs with Thousand Island; Houston Texas Green Chile, Pork Hominy, Cactus, Chile Verde; Miami Dolphins Citrus Cake from the sunshine state. Cost is $35 per person.
