A Note From Pastor Tim

Doing Mission

Remember when we were growing up and we always heard about the church doing mission 'over there'?  Missionaries were sent to a far-away land to share the good news of Jesus.

That was then, this is now, and the world has changed.  Today we are the mission field!  Each church has become a mission outpost -'an island in a world of increasingly adrift people.'  These words come from a recent article by Amy Butler, a pastor, who reflects that we have become "places of solace and hope, community and hospitality for people who are too smart to believe in God and pretty convinced they don't need the church - until they do."

It means that when we support the local church we are doing mission.  It means that what was once  labeled "administrative" or "overhead" has  become essential to this mission.  Ask Nancy about ministering to youth in SW Florida, it is mission!   We Care (our food program) is mission. To a hurting community,  we are the front line.

Thank you for your generous financial support of this outpost!

In faith,

Pastor Tim
