Is Love a Burden?
My mother has often said to her children: "I never want to be a burden to you kids." Fortunately, she has been blessed with physical and mental health and continues to live alone in her home. Recently, (Guardian, May 3), a different viewpoint was expressed by the Church of England priest Giles Fraser. I want to share it with you for your thoughts:
"I do want to be a burden on my loved ones just as I want them to be a burden on me - it's called looking after each other... My existence is fundamentally bound up with yours... Of course, I will hold your hand in the long hours of the night. Shut up about being a burden. I love you. This is what it means to love you. Surely, there is something extraordinarily beautiful about all of this."
In August, when I visit my Mother to celebrate her 98th birthday, I will share this quote with her.

Cabell Lincoln County Work Camp in West Virginia
|
Please keep these Senior High Youth, College Students and Youth Leaders in your prayers as they travel to and participate in the Cabell Lincoln County Work Camp in West Virginia. This is our 22nd year of participating in this mission trip. They will be working on houses for people in need to make them warm, safe and dry. They will return on Sunday, June 23rd.
