A NOTE FROM PASTOR TIM

Second Act

What will you do when you grow up?  That is a question we were often asked when we were children. Now the question is being asked, in both fun and seriousness, to people who are very alive and vibrant who have retired from their careers.  What will you do next? A book about retirement, I Never Found the Rocking Chair, spells out how more and more active boomers are radically changing the entire notion of retirement.

I have watched as people retire, move to Florida and then enjoy playing: boating, fishing, golfing, woodworking, reading all the books they've always wanted to read, etc. Then,  after a year or two, they need something else.  Retirement is not a time to withdraw.  If you are blessed with energy,  Jesus said "feed my sheep". If you are not blessed with energy,  pray for Jesus' sheep! In any event, retirement and discipleship do not go together.

May God be clear to each of us where we are being called in our Second Act.

7 WEEK SERIES

On May 5th, Pastor Tim begins a 7 week series on the "Seven Deadly Sins."  A long tradition in the church was to follow the joy of Easter with a more careful examination of our own lives. While these seven are not known as the  "big sins" (such as murder, adultery, etc.), they are more quiet, internal, and seem to settle close to us- all the more reason we need to explore pride, envy, anger, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust.
