Play video above from a rehearsal of the Ballerina section of the poetry event at Beyond Baroque. For this one Linda asked Louise to give her a clown/ballerina like figure patterned after the statue at the Rose Cafe in Venice.

This work is about a poet, who on turning 71, is visited by 4 apparitions who urge him on to die-  a flamenco dancer (with Kirby Harrell and guest Anya Liffey), a clown/ballerina, Marilyn Monroe (Cory McKee and Roman Bykov), and the Grim Reaper. Dancing the Reaper (top of page) is Linnea Snyderman, and dancing the clown/ballerina (above) is Elizabeth Poinsette. Please join us - it is a most unusual evening.

Culmination of last school residency of The Better To Bite You With
at Rosemont Elementary this season
Our 4th school residency in the LAUSD this season using "The Better to Bite You With" as the theme culminates on Monday May 18 with performances at 10 am and 6:00 pm. (The Animal Dance, a live and media dance is pictured on the left). Los Angeles Choreographers & Dancers presents the culminating performances of our company dancers and the students of our 2nd grade class and 5th grade class at Rosemont Elementary in Los Angeles. The participatory program is an interactive dance modernized fairy tale based on "Little Red Riding Hood", a tale found in virtually every culture worldwide. Inspired by new technology in computer X-rays used by creator Louise Reichlin's dentist, the work integrates the theme of teeth, one of the most basic and important parts of ours (and many animals') bodies. In October it was sponsored by the Children's Literature Dept at the Mark Taper Auditorium at the LA Central Library. This version for students has an increased emphasis on the learning element of the dance, using it to teach important lessons about the importance of dental health. This residency is sponsored in part by a grant from Mitch O'Farrell, LA City Council Member of our own District 13. For information about how to attend or our educational workshops in general, contact us at 213-385-1171 or email louisehr@LAChoreographersAndDancers.org. The work was created for theater at the Jazz Bakery originally through a grant from Culver City, and we adapted it for schools including a study guide.
