We will be at performing on Stage 2 at the Tall Ships Festival LA on Sat August 23 @ 1:30. Yes....It is the festival with the 41 foot rubber duck (!) leading the fleet. Here is the promo for it from their website:  Ok- the writing is a bit small here so here is the copy: Come see a preview from a few of the 19 dance companies featured in SAN PEDRO ♥ TRI ART Festival on Saturday, August 23 from 12:30-1 pm. Peoples Place San Pedro brings audience participation with Jan Kain and a country western performance with her partner, Steve Lelevier. Jan heads one of San Pedro's most popular dance schools and you can learn most dance styles you can imagine yourself doing at their monthly Swing Peedro with live music or a range of dance classes. Louise Reichlin/ LA Choreographers & Dancers, returns for their 7th year at the Festival with her nationally known company, featuring joyous modern and contemporary dance. Selections from "The Tennis Dances" will be featured. "Clever evocations of theatre dance styles...everything from Fokine and Graham to Bejart and beyond, all unified by rackets and nets and tennis balls." Los Angeles Times. Other groups at the TriArt will range from Tap of Hiroshi Hamanishi and Tap Overload to Krumping by The Underground to Blues by ENCORE Dance Co to Modern by Lula Washington Dance Theatre to aerials by Ruby Karen Project/ Orange County Aerial Arts. Featured music group is The Black Tongued Bells sponsored by the office of Don Knabe. This year the SAN PEDRO ♥ TRI ART Festival, a free family event featuring dance, music & crafts is on Saturday & Sunday, September 27-28 at the Ports O' Call Village, Special Events Dance Stage, 1199 Nagoya Way, San Pedro, CA 90731. Dance Companies Selected for the Triart Festival
|
At the festival this year, you can expect to be enchanted by the wide range of creativity and talent presented by our dancers, musicians, and art vendors. The Dance and Music Directors are curating a diverse range of dance styles and companies including modern, contemporary, tap, ballet, jazz, krumping, country western, aerial dance and ethnic dances including Folklorico, Uzbekistan, and East Indian and a variety of music styles. This year the festival features 19 dance performances by some of the most well known of our companies as well as some giving their first performances at the Festival.
Returning from past years are Ruby Karen Project/ Orange County Aerial Arts, Louise Reichlin & Dancers/ LA Choreographers & Dancers, Hiroshi Hamanishi/ Tap, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Jrick and the Hot Flashers (formerly the Post Pros), Peoples Place, Kenneth Walker Dance Project, San Pedro City Ballet, and Degas Dance Team. New this year are ENCORE Dance Company, APA Repertory Ensemble, Ballet Folklorico Pasion de Mi Tierra/ Gabriel Avila, The Underground Street Dance Co, Tap Overload, The PGK Dance Project/ Peter G Kalivas, Navarasa Dance Theater /Aparna Sindhoor and Anil Natyaveda, Gulistan Dance Theater, Rubans Rouges Dance Company/Noelle Andressen, and the Dance Department/ Idyllwild Arts Academy. Both days will open with three pre-professional or regional companies, followed the professional companies. There were a record number of applications this year and these were selected because of both the quality and diversity of the work. Below is a video from previous years.

Stage Manager for Dance part of TriArt Needed
|
Just found out that our Stage Manager from last year is not available on Sept 27 and 28. We need someone from about 10am on for rehearsals and 1-4 to push the CD player or digital music, comfortable with dance cues. Some pay. Email us at louisehr@LAChoreographersAndDancers.org or call 213-385-1171.

New grants received for the coming season include another grant from Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas towards our educational residencies in this district. Many thanks!!! We are open to hearing from schools intested in a FREE dance residency in his County District.
