Here are some of the stories I am researching.

PRESIDENT OBAMA RETURNS TO FROM ASIA-PACIFIC TRIP TO STALLED CONGRESS

President Obama is back in the friendly confines of the White House, and can put aside the Asian-Pacific briefing books and dive back into the domestic agenda, which is a bit stalled, and apparently in no danger of significantly moving during this next nine weeks of continuous session.

The House has some ideas, but they all presumably conflict with the President and the Democratic controlled Senate, and of course that has been the recipe that has caused this lack of legislative progress.

And with everybody calculating their moves towards the November midterms, one suspects President Obama will renew his attacks on the GOP, particularly in the near term on unemployment insurance and minimum wage.

TORNADO OUTBREAK LATEST

At least 34 people are dead after an outbreak of severe weather in the South and Midwest this week that spawned tornadoes, flooded streets and caused widespread damage.  After killing at least 15 people in Arkansas on Sunday, the violent storm system moved east and struck parts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, which all reported fatalities.

The operator of a Mississippi day care center -- died while clutching the last child remaining there yesterday as a tornado wiped the building off of its foundation.  A next-door neighbor who witnessed the scene says a firefighter who came across the body of Ruth Bennett gently pulled the toddler from her arms. There's no word on the fate of the child.

NBA BANS CLIPPERS OWNER STERLING FOR LIFE AS CLIPPERS RETURN TO STAPLES CENTER FOR FIRST GAME SINCE CONTROVERSY

Basketball Commissioner Adam Silver slapped Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling with a lifetime ban from the sport and a $2.5 million fine Tuesday over racist remarks attributed to Sterling. At a press conference that Aaron attended, Silver said the National Basketball Association "will begin immediately" to force Sterling to sell the team.

It was a definitive ruling, which has drawn practically universal praise.  Meanwhile, the Clippers returned home for the first time since the controversy on Tuesday night for Game 5 of their first-round series against the Golden State Warriors, and Alex will be there and able to report on how things went, from protests to fans reaction.

INSPECTORS TO LOOK INTO CLAIMS OF SYRIAN GOVERNMENT USE OF CHEMICAL WEAPONS

Has the Syrian government violated the deal it struck last year with the US and other nations to destroy its chemical weapons and not use them against its own people?

BOEHNER ADDRESSES IMMIGRATION COMMENTS, TELLS LAWMAKERS HE WAS JUST "TEASING" THEM

House Speaker John Boehner told Republican lawmakers Tuesday he was just teasing them when he lampooned their reluctance to act on immigration legislation, insisting that he blames President Barack Obama for inaction on the issue, not the GOP.

The comments in question happened at a Rotary Club lunch in Ohio last week when Boehner said Republican House members don't want to take on immigration because it's too difficult - imitating them in a whining high-pitched protest.
