A Special Message from  Culinary Academy Director Beth Lanni 

I just could not decide on just one funny ending...

In case you haven't' heard we're trying to move Pies & Plates downtown but we need to raise some funds to do so. Since the recession, a popular and innovative way for businesses to raise funding is through a process called "crowd funding."  We share our project with the world via the internet, social media and local news and invite people who want to support our project to become backers.  Backers are kind of like investors but instead of getting equity in the business, they get really cool rewards...and of course the satisfaction of knowing they've helped kick-start downtown Punta Gorda! . 

Our fundraising campaign will be hosted on-line at www.kickstarter.com.  The campaign should start later this week. Cindee will send out an email to let know when you can begin pledging.  The campaign will only last 30 days. It's an all or nothing fundraising campaign.  Which means if we don't reach our goal, all the pledges disappear and we don't get to move downtown.  (That would be sad)  If you are thinking of pledging we hope you'll do so early on to help us get some momentum going!  And, please, please, please tell all your friends!   

If our fundraising campaign succeeds and we get to move downtown, then you'll see some great improvements to the culinary academy when we move downtown.  There will be some additional equipment and a much larger classroom!  That means we'll be able to offer more hands-on classes.  And, we'll be able to handle larger groups -- like the Red Hatters that want to come up from Naples!  
  
If you're thinking about backing our project I hope you'll consider one of our Culinary Academy Club Rewards!  If you've always wanted to take a cooking class but never have it's a great way to insure that you do!  Whatever amount you pledge is given right back to you in the form of class credits!  With credits waiting you're sure to sign up!  There are other great perks, too. The more you pledge the better the perks!  For those of you who take lots of classes, we  hope you'll consider making a large pledge to help us reach our goal!   And, remember that COOKING CLASSES MAKE GREAT GIFTS!

Culinary Director Beth Lanni will be teaching you to make at home gorgeous Striped Stuffed Puffs (everyone will make and fill their own puff!), Spiced Tomato Salsa with Fresh Hot Chips and Easy Salted Caramel Almond Ice Cream Torte!
