The number of advice-giving parenting blogs, parenting magazines and parenting books out there serves as proof of an important fact: Parenting is one hard job!
Thankfully, there are many ways new, expecting and current parents can learn about skills needed to raise another human being. The 2-1-1 Database has programs that provide expectant and new parents with educational and support services to prepare emotionally and practically for the impact of a newborn. 2-1-1 also has resources for general parenting skills classes for caregivers of older children and teenagers, as well as programs that teach caretakers about child development. Personal Supplies Donations
Do you ever wonder what to do with all the tiny bottles of hotel shampoo you hoard? Or the unopened soap in the back of your closet that you will never use? Did you go overboard buying toilet tissue when it was on sale?
You can donate it all! There are a number of agencies that are actively seeking personal supplies and grooming products such as cosmetics, shaving utensils, beard trimming equipment, hygienic supplies and other personal care items for use in their own program or for donation to those in need. If you are an agency that is seeking personal supplies or any other type of donation, call 2-1-1 so we can add your needs into our database.

October is a good time to get prepared for the cold weather that is about to hit our area. This is the time to make sure your heater is in tip top shape!
Two agencies in our area offer
heating appliance repair or replacement (HARRP)for low income homeowners. HAARP is offered to many parts of WNC, including Madison, Buncombe, Transylvania, Henderson, McDowell, Rutherford and Polk Counties.
2-1-1 also has information on resources for assisting with oil and propane costs, coats and other items or services to get you through winter. Call us and a referral specialist would be happy to help.
