Mayor Overturns Homeless Feeding Ban
Mayor Kenney has overturned the Nutter administration's ban on feeding people experiencing homelessness. Pastor Violet Little of Welcome Church, an ELCA ministry with people living on the streets, was a plaintiff in a 2012 suit that resulted in the ban being delayed. Now the mayor has eliminated the restriction completely. "The mayor and the city were never the enemy," Little told the Daily News. "The enemy has always been homelessness, poverty, and hunger. This lets us work together against a common enemy." Get the full story at Philly.com

Help Your Neighbors On ELCA Day Of Service
Sunday, Sept. 11 is the ELCA's "God's work. Our hands." Sunday. It's also the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. Mark your congregational calendar now to share God's love with your neighbors and to pray for and thank the emergency workers in your area.

Convert Church Facebook Profiles to Pages
If your congregation has a Facebook presence set up as a profile (person with "friends") rather than a page (with "likes") or a group (with "members"), take note: We have recently heard from a couple of congregations whose accounts have been locked and asked to provide a name and ID. Act now before you lose your data!

Free Clothes From "Our Closet"
Every week, a non-profit called Our Closet sets up a pop-up clothing store that simulates a true shopping experience with tables, hanging racks, mirrors and a check out counter. There are locations around the city, including Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion downtown. There is no eligibility and customers are entitled to select up to 5 items free of charge. Our Closet relies on clothing donations to sustain the pop-up shop. They collect gently used clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, and coats for men, women, and children, regardless of size or season.
