Mayor Overturns Homeless Feeding Ban
Welcome Church
Mayor Kenney has overturned the Nutter administration's ban on feeding people experiencing homelessness. Pastor Violet Little of Welcome Church, an ELCA ministry with people living on the streets, was a plaintiff in a 2012 suit that resulted in the ban being delayed. Now the mayor has eliminated the restriction completely. "The mayor and the city were never the enemy," Little told the Daily News. "The enemy has always been homelessness, poverty, and hunger. This lets us work together against a common enemy."  Get the full story at Philly.com

Mitakuye Oyas'in - We Are All Related. Our SEPA Servants at the Rosebud Lakota Reservation are now at work. After an orientation to Native American culture and language, the crews spent Tuesday doing demolition, landscape clean-up, and sorting thrift store donations at the Tree of Life warehouse. The day camp had 15 children, and volunteers did crafts with the local children. Read more at the trip blog: http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog/sepasynod/1/tpod.html.

Convert Church Facebook Profiles to Pages
If your congregation has a Facebook presence set up as a profile (person with "friends") rather than a page (with "likes") or a group (with "members"), take note: We have recently heard from a couple of congregations whose accounts have been locked and asked to provide a name and ID. Act now before you lose your data!
Free Clothes From "Our Closet"

There are locations around the city, including Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion downtown. There is no eligibility and customers are entitled to select up to 5 items free of charge. Our Closet relies on clothing donations to sustain the pop-up shop. They collect gently used clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, and coats for men, women, and children, regardless of size or season.
