Transforming a Container into a Clinic 
A large, red shipping container sits in the parking lot of God's Love Lutheran Church in Newtown while it is being transformation into a medical clinic. When the medical clinic is finished there will be four rooms - two for examinations and treatment, an office, and a pharmacy. Members of the church and the community have donated their time on construction as well as supplies and furniture for the clinic. The container will be shipped to serve a community in Kenya, Africa. Mass Incarceration Documentary Screening June 6
"THE HOUSE I LIVE IN" documentary offers a poignant look inside US drug policy and it's far reaching impact. Watch and discuss this powerful film on Saturday, June 6, 9 am - 12:30 pm, at Brossman Center at LTSP. The film educates and challenges viewers, creating opportunities for discussion. Since the 1970's the war on drugs has accounted for 45 million arrests and has cost more than $1 trillion. The film highlights the history of the drug war and the systemic failure of current drug policies, and weaves together the stories of individuals caught up in this war. Together for the Common Good
Seamen's Church Institute volunteers and chaplains encounter and provide hospitality to thousands of arriving seafarers each year who represent both Christian and Muslim faith traditions. Join us for a day of learning and discussion around the intersections of Islam and Christianity, and how we can form supportive work environments. This workshop is being held on Wednesday, May 6, 9:30-3:30, at The Neighborhood House, 20 N. American St. Register at www.sciphiladelphia.org
Art and Faith
Congregations (individually or in partnership with ecumenical or interfaith neighbors) are invited to schedule tour/discussions at the Philadelphia Museum of Art around topics such as, "Art from the World's Religions," "The Sacred in Secular Art," "The Christian Story in Art," "The Christmas Story in Art" or a 3 hour mini--retreat entitled "Prayerful Looking: Art and Spirituality."
