You're invited to join Drs. Karl Krueger and Michael Krentz for "Luther and the Arts," a 10-day tour exploring Lutherland, June 12-21, 2015. What better way to prepare for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 than to visit historic sites connected with Martin Luther, Lucas Cranach, and Johann Sebastian Bach. Meet the "Dones"
You've heard of the "Nones" - now meet the "Dones". They are long-time, experienced church members who are done with church as-it-is. "The Dones are fatigued with the Sunday routine of plop, pray and pay. They want to play. They want to participate. But they feel spurned at every turn," writes Thom Schultz, author of "Why Nobody Wants To Go To Church Anymore." He suggests listening to mature members' ideas about why they are in church and what they need to grow in their response to God's call. The Cross is the True Gift of Christmas

In her December column for The Lutheran, Presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton reminds us that "all of our Christmas glorias are realized in Jesus' glorification on the cross." With Jesus we have peace, we have hope, we are loved-and not just at Christmas. Read her column at http://www.thelutheran.org/article/article.cfm?article_id=12312
ELCA, Episcopal Church AIDS Day Statement
The presiding bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and The Episcopal Church commemorated World AIDS Day, Dec. 1, "as a time to remember those whose lives were forever changed because of HIV and AIDS." In a joint statement, the Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton, presiding bishop of the ELCA, and the Most Rev. Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori, presiding bishop of The Episcopal Church, said the observance also presents "an opportunity to recommit ourselves to building God's Kingdom by working to bring the AIDS pandemic to an end."
